How do I measure for the best fit?

How do I measure for the best fit?

Getting the right fit for your workwear is crucial for both comfort and safety on the job. The best way to avoid baggy sleeves or tight trousers is to take a few key measurements. Here's a quick guide to help you order the right size the first time.

Why getting the right size is important

Safety: Ill-fitting gear can get caught in machinery or limit your movement.
Comfort: You're in your workwear all day. Being comfortable helps you focus.
Cost: Ordering the correct size helps you avoid the cost and hassle of returns.

Good to know: According to our return rules, you are usually responsible for the cost of return shipping if you order the wrong size.

How to take your measurements

All you need is a soft measuring tape. For the most accurate results, measure over light indoor clothing, not bulky sweaters. Stand in a relaxed, natural position.

For Work Jackets, Vests & Overalls

Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level under your armpits and across your shoulder blades.
Waist: Measure around your natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of your torso. Don't pull the tape too tight.

For Work Pants & Trousers

Waist: Measure around the area where you normally wear your trousers.
Inseam: This is the length from the top of your inner thigh down to the point where you want your trousers to end (usually just above the ground). It's easier if a friend helps with this one.

Quick tip: Always check the specific product page for a size guide. Sizing can vary between brands like Portwest, Fristads, or Dimex.

What about shoes and gloves?

For safety shoes and work gloves, sizing is just as important. Most product pages will have brand-specific charts. For shoes, you can often compare your standard EU or UK size. For gloves, you'll typically measure the circumference of your hand.

Common follow-up questions

What if I'm between two sizes?

If you're between sizes, we usually suggest ordering the larger size. A slightly looser fit is often safer and more comfortable than something that's too tight, especially if you'll be wearing layers underneath.

I'm ordering for my whole team, any advice?

The best approach is to get measurements from each team member. If that's not possible, consider ordering a few different sizes of a specific item to find the best fit for everyone before placing a larger order.

Heads up: Items with custom logos or other personalization cannot be returned. It's extra important to get sizing right for these orders.

Can I return something if it doesn't fit?

Yes, as long as it's not a custom item. Products must be returned unused, with the original packaging and all tags still attached, within 14 days.
